AC d17 series 4 ignition switch problem

I recently got a D17 series 4, and it sat in my grandpas shed for a while, and now sometimes when you turn the key, sometimes it turns the electronics on, and sometimes it doesn't. I've resorted to holding the starter down and jiggling the key around till it turns over. When it starts turning over, the electronics will work just fine, even if you jiggle the key around. Could this be bad wiring or a bad ignition switch? Any help is appreciated.

Could be either one. Switches wear out and need replacement sometimes. Wire connections on the backside of the switch get rusty and make poor contact. Take side panel off to look and or replace the switch/repair the wire ends.

Try hot wiring it by running a wire from the ignition side of the battery to the ignition side of the coil and then try to start it. If the switch then works fine good chance the switch is bad since by hot wiring it the switch is being back feed power
