okay, i may not have the proper name for parts, so bear with me.
w d allis chalmers: right pinion shaft housing - where connection is made to final drive, has 8 bolts. 4 at top go all the way through with taps on the back. the 4 on the bottom, some were missing and others were broken off. so machine shop drilled and tapped new threads for me. i ordered 2 new bolts and maybe some miss communication, but the bolts were $55.00 each. i thought that this was pricey and returned them.
neighbor says i should have kept them.
yesterday, i began to put things back together and saw that there has been problems with this connection. holes are wallowed out and also looks like pinion shaft has been rubbing against housing.
suggestions? do i need the pricey bolts?
