Allis H3 dozer info request.

I'm going to look at an H3 dozer in average condition tomorrow. Said that every thing works and tracks are decent. Pickure llok like it's in decent shape. Ball park price is going to be $2500 to 3250. Should I run from this rig or take a look?

All comments appreciated.

thanks Dave

I used to have one. Make sure it stays in all the gears and that the steering clutches and brakes work well. Check all of the undercarriage out real well because parts are nearly impossible to find and expensive.

Machine is kind of a toy, too small to do much serious dozing. But good for light work and playing around.

I had a 61 H3 Loader, the biggest issue with these is the steering clutches, the mounting bolts for the clutches tend to shear off, and the idler wheels need to be greased and checked for looseness every year...other than that, awesome little machine.

I saw one sell Friday night with an 8 ft. blade, straight tin, Rebuilt steering clutches, new battery, professionally rebuilt radiator, started right up, moved, steering was good, And showed 1754 hours on the meter at auction for $3100. This is in SE Ohio.

Well, I was the first caller and we setup a time for me to see the crawler. It was a 3 1/2-4 hour drive for me. He called me just as I was leaving this morning and said someone closer to him was going to look at if before our agreed upon time. That guy bought the crawler... His word doesn't mean much to me.

The guy should have done what he said for sure. That said CL is a free for all with the 'first person with the cash gets the prize'. If its a great bargain be ready with cash, truck and trailer to head out any hour of the day or night.
