D17 radiator, rebuild or buy new

The core of my old radiator has rotted out, I can get it re-cored by a reputable shop or buy a new aftermarket radiator for about $75 less. Does anybody have any experience or educated opinions on the quality of available new ones? There is a wide range of prices on new ones, but I can't imagine that there is a multitude of manufacturers for such a limited-interest item.

I'm all ears on any advice here.

I would recore the original. New replacements are often made with less substantial material, maybe fewer rows of tubes, and sometimes the will-fits...don"t. You have recourse with your reputable shop, not so much with the China junk.

To reinforce what JMS says- I shopped and purchased a radiator on line. It may have been the greatest radiator in the world. But I'll never know, because it didn't even fit! I was actually able to contact them and talk to someone. I wanted to return it. But they insisted on replacing it! I wasn't going to cob up my hood/grill and hoses to make it fit. So, I had the old one repaired and put it back in.
