Hi folks, commontating at a rally in eastern England this last weekend and one of the lads came round on a D21 tractor and I did not know anything about it. Good tractor or bad tractor ? MJ

yes bad azz , very cool factor tractor, I think they had a little rear end trouble. but not much else

I hope it has had the series 2 rear end updates,or is a series 2.The original D-21, with the turbocharged engines, with the original rear ends only lasted about 1,100 hours, the bull gears, the ring and pinion, and the bearings were all changed. But they had a lot of power too!

The original series 1 D-21 bull gears were 2 3/4" wide. They were that size up thru a couple of years of series 2 turbocharged models. They then went to 3 1/4" wide bull gears in the late builds of series 2 tractors and these were retro-fitted into older models if they failed. Ring and pinions were not changed. If the HP was left at 127.75 HP factory setting, I doubt there'd been many failures. Far too many were tweaked to 150 HP or more and then failures occurred pretty quickly.
