Allis Chalmers HD5 Crawler Loader

Hello,

Just purchased my first crawler this past fall. worked great up until the last couple of months. The loaders hydraulics would go very slow and then do a quick jump every 5 or so seconds. Cant find where to pour in motor oil, can only locate where to put in the transmission fluid. Also lost all my transmission fluid this last time I used it because the drain plug came out.

Is the motor and transmission fluid the same? where do I add oil? Was it just air in the hydraulic lines? Anyone know where to get replacement parts?

(quoted from post at 05:26:30 04/23/17) The hd5 oil motor cap filler is on rear motor near belhousing and transmission the filler
is on top transmission and your hydrolic should missing oil and am still have some used
parts for HD5.

I didnt see any other cap or fill spot on the machine. Just the big long spout that comes off the transmission and goes to the right side of the machine.
Im hoping the hydrauclics are just a fluid issue. Do you know of any places to where i could send the lever controls in to have the seals re-done? Also if you have a transmission plug i would happily take it off your hands. I still need to find a place that carries these types of oil filters.

If you"ve been running this machine since last Fall, your first purchase should be the operator manual. It would answer all your questions that you posted, and more.

A manual came with it but it is very vague. Its a service manual for one that has no hydraulics and when i go to the area about the oil, it shows how it is pumped through but not where to add....but yet it shows the dipstick and how to check that.

It talks about the transmission but not where to add but i figured that one out by following lines and observing.
The hydraulics, i didnt see any opening to add but i followed tbe lines and found the tanks for those and took a plate off to add more fluid.
I dont know how to tell what model of hd5 this is. I know there are letters that follow but i dont see it painted anywhere on the machine.

It also doesnt talk anything about parts so i have no idea where to look, who to call, nothing.

Thats why im reaching out for help from people who may know and can help me.

The motor oil filler is same side than injection pump on rear motor near the belhousing and
he has a long neck and the transmission and motor do't use the same oil and the
transmission plug filler is on top transmission left side and the transmission drain plug
it is just a small standar plug and transmission use 80/90 gear oil like final drive and
motor use sae 20 and the filter you could removed yours and bring to your local NAPA and
they can find somes your motor is DETROIT 271

Service manuals are for repairing the machine. They don"t show fill points, drain points, or recommended oil. That info is found in the op manual. A parts manual is also a separate manual.

Good to know, thank you. Do you know where i could find out what type of hd5 i have? I think its a g model but thats only judging off of other photos.

Do you know of any places that sell ac parts still?

Do you have any thoughts on why one of the track pops hard/loud when turning? Would that mean something is too tight?

Do you have a listing/photos like on a website of what you have?

Also what about replacement tracks....got any idea on a company that has those? What is prefered...metal or rubber?

The track should have 1 1/2inch loose and maybe your idler is missing shimm on track frame
or the idler bearing are bad you could check the loose with a pitch bar and the track on
HD5 are only metal and you could check with BERCO or TREK for track and am still have some
motor parts,transmission,final drive,stering cluch

The long spout is the filler oil motor and your serie number should be on rear stering
cluch housing right side top and the transmission drain plug is very small and the
bevelgear compartiment have a drain bigger plug and drain the transmission too.

Hello

Im curious if anyone knows where i can find the main hydraulic cilinders interiors seals to buy. I have one leaking pretty bad.

Or if you know of a replacement cilinder i would consider buying that instead.

Thanks
