Snap Coupler to 3 pt hitch

Do I have this right? All I have to do is replace the lift bar and re-engineer the tower for a top link. Does anybody know if the lift bar (SC) is the same material as the lift shaft (3 pt)? Can I convert the lift bar to a lift shaft with a little welding?

Making a 3 point is simple and NO welding on the tractor it self is needed to do so. Yes you do need to weld up a cross bar you mount on the draw bar for the 3 point arms. Simply pull the pin on the snap coupler part and then fab up a hook up for the lift arm to the 3 point arms. Depending on what tractor a simple center link hook up can be bolted on. My series 1 D-17 had the center link bolted on under the seat area

You are over thinking this. Take a few minutes and Google images of snap coupler to 3 put conversions for the model you have. If you want to spend the money, they can be bought aftermarket. Or you can go cheap and build one for about 1/4 the money.

years ago I build a 3pt hitch attachment on my snap couple hitch for my D14 AC.

it worked fine for my bush hog, lift boom pole, any non ground engaging tools.

but you must remember for the depth control to work properly, the pressure must be placed on the snap couple hitch hook under the tractor.

I had a full set of snap couple equipment, plows, disk, rear cultivators all hooked using the snap couple system.

you use the lever on the left top traction booster, to set the pressure, if ground was hard you could hear in the belly of the tractor a clicking noise and the plow would be raise up some till you got through the hard spot.

it worked just as any depth control of a 3 pt system on other tractors, but that snap couple hitch hook had to be free to move as it carried the pressure of the pull weight.

With the internet today to facilitate communication, it is far easier to trade plows.
If you wish to convert, there is a lot of unseen engineering behind such basic tillage machines. The plow frame needs to be pulled from the same anchor point while trying to place the new hitch hardware in the right place. 3 point attach point is nominally about 8 inches above ground when implement is at lowest operating depth. There are many more details to make a plow work right that we take for granted. Unless you can find ac parts to do so, you will do a lot of butchering, and possibly make the plow unusable. Not knowing your abilities, maybe you personally could do it as I've seen various impossible projects that are done well so anything is possible with time, money, planning and talent. How much of each do you have to invest? Good luck
