Am curious what a E

Which model E? All had 6 1/2" stroke but the bores varied over time and different ratings. An 18-30 or 20-35 (basically the green tractors) could be either 4 3/4" bore or 5" depending on fuel. Early on they produced what was called a "Threshermans Special" that depending on when built would have special governing, higher compression or largr bore size to up the HP for belt work. When they changed to the 25-40 rating the governor was moved to the right side of the block and the water pump to the front. They also moved the sleeve o-rings to the sleeves instead of grooving the block and that allowed for another 1/4" increase in bore size. All this happened at the time they started painting the tractors orange. The 25-40 model E was available in all three bore sizes. The late Threserman's Specials were 5 1/4 bore, set up for kerosene fuel and not warranted for drawbar work. They were rated at 30-60 HP.

I am sorry i didn't mention that, It is a 1927. The 27 is really a one of a kind,It's been converted to L.P. Gas, looks like a factory job.And yes he did raise the compression. He got one of those big green Monsters also, but have no idea what year that one is !

(quoted from post at 06:04:29 04/13/17) I am curious what a E Allis-Chalmers bore and stroke is ??
ust for fun, I figured the cubic inches for the 20-35 to be 458, and the 25-40 to be 510. Big old hosses, Harry

500 cubes sounds like a lot for a four cylinder these days, but remember the early D John Deeres had 500 cubes with just two cylinders

(quoted from post at 19:18:55 04/13/17) That's pretty big for a 4 cylinder engine, so that would handle a 36 in separator then ?
ould think so, the threshermans special with 560 cubic in. of displacement would be cranking out some serious torque.

I have pulled a 36" many times with my model A with 5 1/4 bore. Same engine different transmission. It handles them easily, even with 4 guys feeding.
