New to Allis tractors. Allis B

Picked up my first Allis Chalmers tractor today. Got a non-running model b mainly because I have not had an Allis before and it was cheap. A few questions. Do these only have brakes operated by hand? I just see two levers.

It looks like the transmission is a different color and the number is C62705. Is it safe to assume this transmission is from a c tractor?

Engine turns over and it appears this is a hand start only model. Opinions welcome. Obviously needs a hub for the front. Could probably be just a parts machine.

Early models had hand brakes and manual start only. That tractor has a B front end and a B rear end also. You can tell by the fact B's had a large single nut holding the rear wheel to the axle. Also, a C rear end would be much wider than a B front end. The serial number for the tractor should be stamped in front of the gear shifter. If that is the number you found starting with a C, than it must in fact have a C transmission with a B rear end.

Model B had hand brakes until 1940. You can switch to foot brakes if you find a donor tractor from a 1940 or newer. I bought all the parts to switch mine over.

As the others have said sounds like you found your self a good old mutt. Which is a tractor built for parts of 2 or more tractors. I have seen a good many mutts and have had a few and still have at least one

Thanks for the comments everyone. I am still deciding what to do with it. Neat little booger so maybe back to life.

Thanks again all.
