Allis Chalmers WD Radiator

Hi,

Can anyone that has recently purchased a new radiator for an Allis Chalmers WD, give me an idea of which one is the best quality. Copper or Aluminum? Brand names? Possible links to the best prices.

Thanks,
Todd

I can't help you much. I can tell you I bought on line for price, and I regret it. Any future radiator purchase will be from a local source.

I have a new radiator here for a WD which I tried to return, but they insisted on replacing it, with the same thing! I can't remember the name of the place. The sides where the cowl/hood fastens are not straight, as they should be. You would have to use washers/shims to space the cowl/hood out correctly. The top pipe is straight, rather than angled like it should be, necessitating the use of a flex hose, rather than the original straight hose.

Come and get it! I believe I spent $200 on it.

I have a wd45 parts tractor that my wife wants gone. The scrap yard won't give squat for it so if you would want to pay the shipping it is yours.

copper is aways the best rad. , i was told a copper rad. is always repairable by the shop , anything els just throw it away , i bought one for my WD several years ago but cant remember where , i know it was online somewhere, A&I maybe i've had no problems at all with it

Whatever radiator you buy, make sure the overflow tube is like the original. I bought one from A&I and it had an overflow sticking out the side of he filler neck instead of the small original steel pipe. I had to cut my newly painted orange sheet metal to make it fit.

I am in Idaho. The shift tower is rusted tight. This tractor was bought 20 years ago for the tires. The head was off of it then and the block is cracked so I have never seen this one run at all.

JR, I have a shift tower that was rebuilt by an AC dealer, and was never installed. It came with a WD I bought specifically for a power unit. If your interested, my email should be open.
