WC Shift Handle Removal

Can anyone give me some advise as how to remove the shift handle out of the shift tower on the transmission. I removed the snap ring and washer, disconnected the short rod from the trunnion for the reverse lock out. Do I just pull it straight up or do I need to do something else? Does it slide back in easily? I want to take it out to fix my sloppy shift gate... Any advise is appreciated.

It's not coming out until you pull the shifter tower, turn it over and dissemble the reverse lock out pieces. There's more under there than you think! Shoot me your email and I'll send you a PDF of the service manual for the WC, it cover's the process

Got that right Joe, BTDT on my 35WC. Somewhere along the line I lost the side lock-out pin on one of the shift rails too and ended up stuck in 2 gears a couple times till I took it back apart and realized the lock-out was missing.
I took the center rail out completely, to make room to work in there
