190 Allis XT for sale

All,

I am looking at a 190 XT that's for sale. One issue with it is the power steering isn't working. Is the power steering pump also with the hydraulic pump? For instance if their is no PS would the hydraulics be out? Also what are the pros and cons to a XT 190?

Pretty sure its all one system. There are several things that can
make it not work. Most likely is cylinder bypassing internally.
Good tractor. Umbrella seals in pump injection pump can be a
problem and it does not have a true live PTO. You use the high
low range to stop with PTO running. Its a little jumpy but almost
indestructible. The transmission is the weak link but you have to
really weight it and work it to have it be a problem in my
opinion. All that said I know many people that have worked one
for many years with no real issues. Make an excellent loader
tractor.

Unless the tractor is a very late model Series 3, the hydraulic pump assembly is a triple gear style pump. One section is for the 3-point hitch and all remote outlets( do they work?). Another section is for the Traction-Booster system. The last section is for the Power steering AND Power Director and hydraulic PTO clutch. If you don't have power steering, does the tractor move and drive?? You say it doesn't have power steering....does it work, but with high effort??? or does the steering wheel turn easily and front wheels not move?? The steering pump section may have lost prime?? Does the 3-point raise and lower?? Not enough good info here to really diagnose the problem.
