I want to post one more time - if some of you can help me. "My 3-point arms will not go down by themselves"...they should. Can you tell me which valve to check...for sticking? Also, my "depth control" lever moves ok on the console but doesn't seem to affect the 3-point arms...what am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

Follow the linkage on the traction booster lever back to the control valve. Likely that valve is sticking especially if the tractor sits out. I have to take a rod and push on the back side of the valve to free it up so the arms will lower. Be sure to use your favorite penetrating oil liberally on the linkage and both ends of the control valve.

most likely your traction buster valve is stuck in. if you get under the tractor and look up at the hyd control valves its the valve closest to the rear right wheel. the traction booster lever pushes the valve in so the lever doesnt wctually have anything it controls other than how far the valve can move. get ahold of the valve with chanel locks and twist it and pull out and in spray some lub on it to free it up. this was the problem on mine and that was how i fixed it. hope this helps.

hey thank you so much - I really want al this to work so I can use my depth control...do they affect each other? If one doesn't work- the other doesn't work? Im learning here...Ill go to my shop soon and go look! Thank you !

Hi, after soaking down all the linkage and cleaning all the hyd valves that move in and out - I'm "sure" everything is working now. When my 3-point lever(on the console) is in neutral - I can pull up the depth control lever and my arms come up...is this right? Also...I can lift arms with console lever...but then they wont go down when I push lever forward- something is wrong. Is there anyway to call you on the phone? I also remember that yrs. ago there is a plate on the side by the brake housing that has 2 or 3 levers in it; it fell off once and I put it back on; maybe I have these levers in a wrong hole? As there are choices...somehow I need a diagram of this plate to show where levers should be...what a mess! Ill get it with some help! Thanks!

Pulling all the way "up" on the position control (depth control) lever should make the hitch come all the way to the top, or very near the top. Half-way up on the lever is about half-way up on actual hitch height. If you can get the hitch down with the engine off by standing on the hitch AND the hitch stays down with the depth lever down and engine running, there's nothing wrong. Some tractors have tight packing in the two lift cylinders and without a load on them, they need some help going down, especially with the engine running. That's just the way it is whether you think it's right or not.

Yes...the cylinders are "power up" - I do see this now....so they will drop slowly on their own or with help. My issue now is getting the "depth control" to operate. Is there a way you can send me/ or tell me where to get a diagram of the stack valve assembly with all the linkage on the side? It would help a lot- Im sure this has all been off and maybe something is hooked up wrong. Thank you.

With the hitch down and position/depth control lever clear down, start the engine and set throttle at 1800 RPM. Slowly pull up on the position/depth control lever a inch at a time. The hitch should come up proportionally as the lever is raised. If it does this, that is what it is supposed to do.

okay...the scale on these levers shows 1-9".....with levers clear "down the "9" is showing....so pull it up slowly towards the "1" ? and this is with the console lever in neutral? What is the "float" position for/do on the console lever? Ok, I will do this in morning. Any pic of linkage on side of tractor by chance? Thanks.

Grampajohn....anyway of getting a side pic from your tractor to show me how the linkage is all hooked up? Is yours a 190? It would help me a lot, thanks.

On the lift/lower hitch lever, the first position ahead of HOLD is the plowing position, which allows a slow/controlled drop of the implement (or a big round bale of hay). Holding the lift/lower lever clear forward is fast drop and only stays in that fast drop position if you hold it there. The lever wants to return to the slow drop setting by itself. The lift/lower lever and the position control lever are independent of each other, but yet both control the hitch position....raise....lower.....fast drop.....slow drop.....height control. It was a very nice system to operate when understood and working correctly.

very helpful....thanks....I did find a schematic on the linkage in a service manual; will check my linkage this morning. Thanks for your help.

thanks for your help...It seems to be working ok now...I think! lol....but its fine as it will be. Thanks again!
