Oil Pump Assistance

Hello;

I am rebuilding the 226 Gas out of a 1963 D -17 series 111 with the full flow oil system.

Where may I purchase a new oil pump for this?

All the best

Why do you need one? Simple gear pump. At worst it needs some polishing to tighten up the gear end play. AC service manual should give specs. Not sure you can buy a new pump.

I declined to mention that I checked it out from I & T specifications and have too much gear backlash.
Do you know how to fix that?

Drive out the roll pin that secures the camshaft driven gear. Remove the bottom plate. Press out the long drive shaft and inspect the shaft for wear near the top just under the cam driven gear. As long as the wear isn't too bad, I'd imagine the pump is OK fine, unless there is bad wear on the bottom plate from gears wearing into it. Backlash between the oil pump gears?? Why would that be of concern?? All that pump does is pump pretty clean oil at 32 psi all of its life. Make sure bottom gasket is in good shape. A new oil pump?? none available that I know of. The last engine made that used that pump was in 1975....obsolete is the word.
