Converting an Allis CA to Distributor Ignition question

I want to convert my CA from Magneto to a distributor ignition. In order to do so is the item in the attached photo all I need to make the conversion? Or do I need something else too? The distributor in the photo is off of a C motor co I'm assuming it will fit?

Thanks for your help here.

It looks like you have what you need. Except for a clip to hold the cap on the distributor. And a nice mounting bracket for the resistor. And some time to clean up everything. Behind the tape on the distributor there is probably a small plug you can remove to oil the bushing for the distributor, a few shots of oil and the oil soaks onto the porous bushing. DJS has a lot of AC parts if you have trouble finding the clip. I saw these clips and resistors, (if you decide to get a new one if you are running 12 volts) in their catalog I think. In fact form the looks of your "kit" you might want to get a cap and rotor, points and set of wires too. I think that is the oil fill on top of the housing, does it have a cap? If not you need that too. Don't forget to change the magneto "kill" switch to a "hot" switch to power the coil.

The "battery ignition unit" you have was made by IH for IH tractors and will work just fine on your CA.

Take it apart, clear out the gear housing, check the drive gear, and pack some fresh grease in there before installation.

Also check that the advance unit in the distributor is free and clean and lightly lube it.

Mite want to look into an improved coil mount, as well!

I am not clear on how it was done but when our WD Magneto quit working My Dad put a coil & ignition switch on it and used the Points & cap & rotor as a Distributor. When I worked on the engine I had an extra Modern Distributor off a combine so upgraded it. The old set up worked fine but didn't quite know how to get it back on & and timed right. Cleddy

What you have is the magneto drive/governor off a WD/201 engine.

A CA should have factory battery ignition. Is yours really a C?

You can use the rear part of what you have in the picture, and bolt up where a magneto was.
