Wd bearings

Got a WD45 crank that I had ground a number of years ago and got bearings for it at the same time. Going to put it in a WC block and I noticed the oil hole in the block is towards the front while the oil hole in the bearing is in the center. Is there a difference in the front bearing from a WC to a WD45? Also middle and rear bearing have room for .011 shims while front has room for .017 shims which seems like a lot. Thanks.

On my WD45 at least one oil passage in the block didn't line up with the bearing. Someone, maybe at the factory, egged the hole out with a die grinder or something to get oil to the bearing shell hole. My front bearing passage mine wasn't cut over far enough so half the bearing hole didn't line up. I cut it over a little farther so it matched the hole perfectly.

I think I can remember making the hole in the block line up with the bearing shell in the last one I did. A little time with the dremel and a good clean up and you will
have good oil flow.

That sure sounds bad..!

Don't you have shims to adjust the bearing clearances..????

I am pretty sure you do...

Yes have the shims but spec is .10 and the front checks out at .17

Some is wrong if you plstigauged the bearings and they're at .011 and .017. They should be .002-.004. With a freshly ground crank and new bearing and using .010 of shims, you should be very close to .003. It sounds like you don't have have undersized bearings to match the crank. Also sounds like maybe your bore alignment could be off since you vary from .011 to .017
