Possible stuck engine A.C. B

1939 model B. No starter. Crank adapter turns on shaft. How much pressure/ effort does it take to turn over moter with rear wheel off ground in 3rd gear? What is best to do next.? Open to ideas.

I don't understand what you just said. Did you say that the crank pulley turns but the crankshaft does not? If that is what is happening then someone has sheared the key or some one had the pulley off and stuck it back on without it. If this is the case it is time for a complete disassembly. The link below shows how I attacked a B with those types of problems.

With the spark plugs in it can take a good bit to turn the engine over by way of the rear wheel. Plus you also need to be sure the brakes or other parts are not locked up or you will never turn the engine over by way of the rear tire. Pull the plugs out and also check that the tire spins freely when out of gear then go from there

You maybe right. It's hard to figure why the crank pulley would be lose on shaft.
Your information may come in handy very shortly. I will tear it down if need be.
Thanks

If it has a pto, that would be another way to turn the engine over, irregardless the condition of the brakes.

How would I go about this?

If the pulley is loose on the crank shaft you will have to take it apart to fix that or you will have problems like a water pump not working and also cause damage to the crank shaft it self if it hasn't already been damaged. Front of the tractor will have to come off if I remember right. As in front axle etc

Good point. Like I have said it's a solid tractor. So I may have to give in and tear it down. And to do that I have to put this on the back burner until my garage is finished.
