AC 82R mower

I am looking at buying a 82R mower on cl for my WD45. Only thing is, it has a double acting cylinder. How could I convert it to one hose. Is there reverse rams out there? I don't know the name of the one way cylinders that come together when oil is pushed through. Any help would be great ===adam

Not a problem. Just run your one hose to whichever end of the cylinder you want to use, and put a breather in the other end. I have a 82S, which I've had on a WD45, and it's now on a D15II. The cylinder has to pull to lift it, so my hose goes to the rod end of the cylinder.

Bob thanks for the info. How did you like your 82S on your WD45? It looks like they are handy, or do they have their setbacks?--Adam

It is a nice 9 ft single mower priced right. It's just to far to haul. Will make some owner very happy.

I think they were one of the AC engineers great ideas. My issue is I'm always trying to make something do what it was never meant to do. I reconfigured the lift so I could lift the bar straight up, and also hang it down over a ditch bank. They made a highway/industrial model just for that purpose.

In heavy stuff, low gear was almost too fast on the WD45. The D15, with more speeds, and power steering, is great. The WD45 is married to a 6' bush hog now.

I also "tweaked" mine so that it will raise full up from the seat.
I had the experience of using an 82S on a D-17 back in the mid 60s when a local farmer would loan it to me to trim up around my in-law's place. I can't remember whether or not it would raise full vertical with the hydraulics.
I was amazed however how a center mounted mower could make a square cut corner without stopping. A feat which I had previously thought was only possible with a rear mount mower.
Simply pull in low range just before the corner, hit the right brake and spin the steering wheel.......with a little practice you can cut corners without leaving a stalk of hay.
My 82S is mounted on a WD-45 and without the high/low range and power steering I haven't mastered the square cut corner with it and I doubt I ever will! LOL
