WD-45 Tires

14.9x28 on 13" rim. I bought a WD45 which had 13.6x28, and sold them, and as long as I was buying new rims and tires, I went with 16.9x28 on 15" rims. In hindsight it was kind of overkill. A problem is, tires are not created equal, in the same size. I have some "American Farmer" 14.9x28 I don't like. Firestone is my first choice. Titan/Armstrong is OK. But I just priced some 14.9x28's, and Firestone was $400, Titan was $425.

WD-45s were made for quite a few years. Perhaps some of the very, very early ones had 13.6s and 12 in rims, but all the 45s I ever saw and surely all 1955 and up 45s had 13 in rims and 14.9-28s. Now and then you'll see a WD-45 with its higher fenders with old WDs 13.6s and notice how ugly they look.

I have Firestone 14.9x28s on my 1954 WD45. I wish they made 15.5x28s but they don't make 15.5x28.

That is the factory standard, and the option was for a 13x28, new size 14.9x28. All those I"ve seen, and have, are the larger optional size.

My D-19 had 16.9 38 when I bought it. Book calls for 15.5 38's so when put new ones on went with the smaller tire. Don't like the looks at all.

WD's came with 12" ( 13.6x28" rear tires) and they worked ok, but a WD-45 NEEDS the larger 13" ( 14.9x28") LOADED tires to put the HP to the ground..sometimes the Front tires are Loaded also..

I put dozens of 14.9X28's on them. I don't think I ever put 13.6x28's on 1. Dads had the origional 13x28 on it when I got it.

You tell me who has them because every tire dist. that we tried could get any or knew of any . They do make a 16.9X28 but we can't use 16.9X28s in farm stock pulling classes.

I don't know that you're missing a whole lot. The 16.9x28 Firestones on 15" rims on my WD45 have a larger body, but the tread isn't all that wide. I like the looks of your tires, and I should have just gone with them.

Per the original WD-45 AC gas tractor sales literature a 12x28 was the standard tire size..
The WD-45 diesel sales literature shows the 12x28 as standard and the 13x28 as optional..
Heres my WD-45 diesel with 13.6x28.s....Most all WD-45's ended up with 13x28's or
14.9x28's as the 12's were too small..

We rented a farm across the road from us and the old guy told me to use his WD 45 tractor. It had the small tires and got job done but with the horsepower that the wd 45 put out it could use larger tires. If Allis Chalmers would have put a five speed transmission and 38" wheels it would have been a better riding and pulling tractor.
