looking at a 48 a/c-"B". has a underbelly mower on it, haven't heard it run yet but does turn over, steering box isn't too loose, seems a little sloppy when trans is in 2nd gear, tires good. any common problem areas to be aware of with this model? looks to have a magneto along with a electric starter.

Looks for loose wheels on rear axles. The wheels if loose can wear the spline so bad that tightening is no longer effective (expensive fix).

Also on the mower, loosen the belt and then wiggle the mower blades up and down checking for worn spindles.

If you don't have a good shift lever boot on ACs water can get into the transmission if the
tractor is out in the weather much. Check drain plug and see if any water is in trans/rear end.

The B is a good little tractor but if run with the wrong oil filter for very long can have rod and main problems so oil pressure when running is important on them and being a low pressure system that get pressure by way of a back pressure filter is important.
