1940 WC Gas Tank

I am looking for a gas tank for my 1940 WC styled tractor , the one i have is full of rust, so i can't keep it running. thanks Ron, 219-771-1343

Couple hours with some muratic acid, hand full of bolts, and a tank lining kit and you are good to go. They make a standing screen that fits into the sediment bowl housing that'd help too.

I have a D-17 that has a very badly rusted tank and I just put a sediment bowl wit ha 1 inch stand pipe in it and a good fine screen in the sediment bowl and have been running it that way for years now. I do have to dump the sediment bowl every few hours of running it but it has been working just fine other then that

See if you can find one of these they work great.

I rinsed mine good with water. Put 5 gallons water and a 6 foot chain in it. Strap it to a tractor wheel and drive around. Pull the chain out rinse tank until it runs clear. Set it in the sun to dry out put it on and fill it up

Stuck the nozzle from my Dustless blaster in the top of the tank and let her go for awhile being careful not to over-pressurize it. Vacuumed the tank, rinsed with Acetone and sealed it with Northern. Worked great. Getting ready to do the same to my B.

I have cleaned several tanks with (1) Empty and flush out with a water hose or pressure washer. (2) Put a gallon or two of cheap carburator cleaner in and soak over night with shaking it around ever once in a while. (3) Drain it out and save for next time. (4) Flush again with water hose/Pressure washer until most of the lose stuff is flushed out and blow out with a air nozzle. . Lots of times it is the old gasoline and dirt build up in the tank and it comes out like brand new and shinny inside. (5) Then put some clean gas with Sabilizer/mystery oil in and it won't rust anymore for a while.

If it is the rust and you get most of the loose stuff out then a short stand pipe will keep the rest out of the gas line and at least the engine will run. It may take a few times of empty the sedimate bowel until all the water is out of the tank. Much nicer when problem is taken care of. Cleddy

Just finished blasting my B tank. Yuck, its a little worse than my WC tank was. I will have to weld a few holes. Then do the process.

I have used most of the methods above, I have also cut the tank in half at the seam, sand blasted it and welded it back together.
Whatever method, I finish with a tank sealer, like Red Coat, or other brands, they work.
