Anyone know about a D17 with 348 Chevy V8

A friend has this tractor and supposedly it was built to pull large irrigation pumps since the stock tractors of the day didn't have enough power to. He heard there was a collaboration between Allis and Chevy and there was between 2 and 300 of them built. Extensive searches have come up empty. If you have any knowledge of this tractor I would appreciate it if you would share it with me. Thanks!!!!

That old 348 was a hoss, but you needed a gas tanker following you around. My uncle used to put tractor fuel in his car out of the farm pump. And he had a lead foot.

D17 has enough power to slip the tires in 1 and 2 gears... You would have to put 2-3000 pounds of weight on the tractor to use 80 HP or more..... never happened.

Yeah he had a low compression 250 or a 280 horse, the 300 and 335, needed Ethel gas, I had a 250 horse. good engine.

I doubt the PTO gears would stand up to a full 80+ hp.
