Serial number on diesel D17

The serial number stamped on the housing is D17 340770. All the serial number charts have 5 digit serial numbers. Can anyone tell me the year this one was made?

That last digit is probably a D. As diesel was a new thing, and gassers were still made, they added a D. Looks like 1961.

Thank you! I don't look that closely at it. I just assumed it was a zero since the others were.

My serial number book says it's a 1961, and not a 0 but a D.
