carb and compression question

Any thing above 90 or so PSI will be just fine. Much under that it may not run well and or smoke a lot. As for that carb I think it will fit but you may have to adjust the main jet some to limit having it run rich

The WD45 carb would work, but probably won't run the best. Stock WC was 210 cubes and a WD45 is 226. Finding a WC or WD carb that works shouldn't be too hard.

That's no good I test two and they were both 15 psi and the carb that came with it was the marvel wd45 version probably been on it for decades don't know much history on this wc

Well if it is likely it has sat for a long time fill ALL the cylinder with ATF and let it sit say a week. Be sure to put the plug back in after filling and also pour as much ATF down the exhaust it will let you with out leaking all over. Do that will free up sticking rings and exhaust valves. I have had more then one engine with very low compression but after a good ATF treatment the number came up to where they should have been

Rebuild kits for carbs are easy to come by. If you have a O'Reilly's auto parts store in your area they sell a Walker brand kit for around $20 wit ha good instruction sheet in the kit

Yep pull the plug back out and crank it over. It does make a bit of a mess but in many cases it is well worth it
