WIX Filter on a G

New User
Howdy folks! Newby here. Bought my first AC, a G, and took it out of long term storage. Removed WIX oil
filter and a slender straw tube came out of engine and is in the filter. Replacement filter (Baldwin T300M)
does not have this tube. Do I need to clean it and return it before installing the T300M or is it optional?
Thanks much!

Not sure on your situation with the straw, but i use to be a dedicated Baldwin user until they quite sending the oil ring for the M filters for the old canister type.

that metal tube is a riser that should be in the small hole in the middle of the filter base, tractor will have no pressure without it.
push it back down into the base and give it a small tap to seat it

Pull the straw out of the old filter and install it back into the filer housing. They are supposed to not come out of the housing but they do some times. Without the straw you will NOT filter any of the oil. The oil goes up the straw and comes out the base.

If you clean the tube and filter base where it goes maybe loctite will hold it in, use the strongest you have, if you have to buy it get the "stud and bearing retaining" that will fill a fairly large gap- .015" or so. Let it set before starting engine.
