Pulling B Water Pump?

Got the radiator and fan off and started on the pump. It looks like the pulley needs to slide forward in the two grooves, so that the pump bolts will clear the back of the pulley and come out? I got the two small nuts loose in the grooves, but cannot get the pulley to move forward. Sprayed the heck out of it with blaster - its has not been apart in a long time, if ever. Any tricks to getting the pulley to move forward?

Thanks - I know I need to buy a shop manual - will order one when I order the pump, belt, and thermostat.

You only need to remove the 4 bolt on the front of the fan to remove the fan and pulley. The 2 bolts in the slides are used to tighten the belt on non generator tractors. Work the fan and pulley a bit to get it loose. They stick. LOL Bob

Did you loosen the 1/4" nuts over the slots in the pulley to the extent that the bolts have backed in far enough that they won't clear the hub?

The four bolts screw into four lobes and you can turn the pulley a quarter turn to clear the bolts that Bob referred. I have had them not clear even when adjustment bolts were not loosened.

The pulley sliding half can be really stuck to the pulley. Clamp a large shaft in a vise and place the pulley over it and tap and tap on the outside, it may free up after a while, and it will be more work to make it work when back on the tractor. Put it together with a film of grease and hope.
Of course you don't have to have it free and working unless you don't have a generator.
