82S sickle mower

Why weren't there more AC 82S mount mowers built in its time? They look like they would work wonderful on a WD45. Wish I had one. Never have to turn around. What were the setbacks? Also what does a compete one cost?

Also,

did they make them with a 9 ft bar as well? Or only 7? If so could you swap a 9 ft bar for a 7 ft on one? Thanks--adam

They were built for the D series and newer tractors but could be retrofitted to a WD/WD45 they are nice to mow with I had one on a D19 for about 10 years, mine was a 7ft but they built them 9ft too.Think I still have a couple around here.We used the AC Twin Wheel Drive mowers for years but they require a lot of attention and if not kept tight they'll fly apart.Running
a New Holland now a lot less problems.

That was my first mower in the sixties and I pulled a crusher behind to condition the previous swath. Like what was said before
they require a lot of maintenance especially on the bearings of the connecting arms. They need to be tight with no play. They are
a great mower but not in heavy or fine hay. We still use it around the farm to mow under electric fences and to trim around the
fields where the haybine cannot go. Bearings are available at Buffalo Bearings and Webb sickle service has all you need for the
knife section etc.
