Rusty wheels

We have a 1964 series 3 D17 and the rear wheels are in bad shape. They are rusty from fluid and rubs holes in the bladder which obviously makes the tires go flat. Is this a common occurrence? What are our options?
 
Can be. If the rim is still in good shape around the valve stem have the tires dismounted and the rims blasted and painted. Valve stem holes can be fixed if need be. If you need the fluid weight, make darn sure the vale stems do not leak and fix them the second they do.
