what year did allis B arrive

I am ivor from UK and I have an Allis B in poor condition.. I think it is fairly early but I am wondering what year this tractor was introduced thanks to all who reply

First tractor was built in 1937. Production ended in 1958. Go to tractordata.com to check serial number for exact year.

Someone will correct my inaccuracies. I think it was 1938, they made about 100 with a Waukesha engine. Then for 1939 they ramped up production with the AC engine. I found a 1939 and fixed it up. No electric nor hyd. The casting/finishing was so crude I had to shim under one side of the fuel tank mount to get it level. Had a similar issue with the rocker shaft mounts!

The serial number will be stamped on a flat near the gear shift lever. Post it and we can tell you exactly what year it is.

For a couple of years they had hand brakes. A maybe 10" lever on each side over the brakes. Foot brakes could have been added to an early one though.

He is from the United Kingdom.....things are slightly different. Allis sold a few tractors complete around 1940 or slightly before. Then they made an agreement with England to sell "kits" and have some of the sheetmetal / generator / starter supplied by companies inside the UK... A few years later the English started putting their own motor ( Perkins?) into the tractor...

Look by the shifter is a good idea.. Do you have Lucas electronics or Delco ? Who made the magneto or is it a distributor ? Is it an Allis motor ?

They built 98 B's in 1937 using a flat head engine.
Production started in 1938 using the AC overhead valve engine.
They were crank start until mid 1940 and had hand brakes until mid 1941.
Look by the gear shift for the "tractor #" (serial #) and someone will tell you the year your tractor was built. LOL Bob
