37 WF air cleaner

I have been working on my unstyled WF and after cleaning the air cleaner in a hot parts washer the paint was pealing off, Under the orange paint was a nice gloss black in areas that were still nice no rust. Was the original color of the air cleaner on the unstyled WF Black? Just wondering if I should paint it black or orange?

Allis Chalmers did not make the air cleaner, they bought them and that may be the manufacturers color.

Thats kinda what I thought, it might have been painte by the air cleaner company. I think it might be made by Donaldson. It would look nice to be black instead of everything being orange. I just don't find any pictures of unstyled WF's in an unrestored condition.

Just as you were told Donaldson loves black paint, Allis loved Qrange. I painted mine black and think it looks great.

I have never seen a picture or one of them at a show that was black. I have seen some custom paint jobs with items on tractor painted black. It could have
come from manufacture black and Allis Chalmers repainted when tractor was being built. If you like it paint that way paint it black. .
