That"s the same model that Dad bought, but in a 3-16 slat bottom, in 1956 with the new WD45. Around here, they usually go for around $300.

Question on Snap Coupler vs 3 pt hitch AC plows.

I have a set of series 80 3 pt hitch (spring trips)and would like to add a 3rd bottom. From my manual it appears as if the snap coupler and the 3 pt hitch plows are the basically the same, except for the hitch. And the parts interchange. Is the LIFT BAR (snap coupler) and the LIFT SHAFT (3 pt hitch) the same size(different ends) and material? How do you tell which bottoms you have? Are they marked?

There IS a difference in the Moldboards between the early Mounted AC plows (Pre "Snap-Coupler") and the later Snap-Coupler plows..

They do not match when plowing together..the early one seems to not "Turn" the slice enough to match the newer one..

NOT really any problem, it just looks a little like the plow needs adjusted..

That is a Nice Plow...I have one exactly like that and a 4x14" Semi-mounted that came from the factory with Dad's 1957 WD-45..

We both ended up pulling 4x14"..could ( and did) turn 50 acres in one (long) day..Used less fuel (Per Acre) with the 4x14", also..Both pulled in 2nd gear..

3rd was just too fast and hard on the equipment, with the 3x14"

Bushogpapa,

Is that a Series 72, since it has shear bolts instead of Spring Trips? I keep looking for a Series 82 3 bottom snap-coupler or 3 pt. to make my 3 pt hitch 2 bottom 16 into a 3 bottom. And am wondering if other parts will interchange, like the lift BAR on the SC and the lift ARM on the 3 pt. There is also a 9000 series, will those parts interchange with the 70 and 80 series? Or are they a completely different plow?
