maintenance on a wd45 allis

Ok I just got this WD45 running and I really dont know to much about this. So I have check some of the oil levels but not sure what is what.
Not sure if someone can send some pics on here or not.

First off get you self an I-T manual AC-11. Doing that will go a long way in how to work on it and know what is what. If you know anything at all about engines etc you should of course know about the engine oil dip stick. Then in the transmission area is another dip stick and that is hyds/wet clutch area. As for the rear end I would have go out out an look at my WD45 to see what and where

OK thanks. now on the right side by the plug wires looks like a cap to fill what with.
I see 2 dip sticks so far both look good.
How this one has a bush hog on but when I started it and went in the field felt like it was bogging down when in high grass and not for sure how to lower it and raise it up.
Yep new on the farm lol

Cap up by the distributor is for engine oil. As for raising the hog up there is a throttle lever on the right side just below the steering wheel and a lever on the left which it the 3 point/ snap couple lift. Clutch has to be out for the hyds to work.

Well we all have to start from the beginning and then go from there. My e-mail is always open in case some one needs more one on one help

Get on eBay and buy the original operators manual. It'll cover everything from starting to operation, lube, etc. I&T is nothing special as far as service books go and geared more towards mechanics who need the rough idea vs an amateur operator. Book covers the machine like you've never touched one before.

The dipstick on the left is for hydraulic system only. There two filler plugs for the transmission on the left side behind the hyd. dipstick. There are three drain plugs for the transmission, one being in the bottom of the PTO gearbox. One is under the rear end and the other is in the cover plate on the bottom of the transmission, which hides above the drawbar attachment under the transmission. Don't forget the final drives, no drain plug, you have to remove the pans, many have never been changed. At least remove the plug in the side of the pan and check level and see if it is clear new looking gear oil or old black muck. Keep a good boot on the shift lever especially if the tractor will ever be out in the weather or you will have/get water in the transmission.
