AC7000 Shift lever broke

The shift lever broke off just above the transmission boot. Looks like the original spot weld wasn't strong enough after all of these years. Has anyone had this happen to them? And if so, what was your fix? Got a short piece of pipe on the emerging stub to shift gears, but this just isn't right! Thanks!

I've never seen it happen but, it doesn't make any difference. Yours is broken....either weld it somehow or replace it with another one. I doubt there are any new available from AGCO....go with used from salvage yard.

Yep, welding is the most probable fix. But was just curious to see if there might be an alternative. Thanks.

My tired 7000 has a welded up shift lever too, was like that when I got it used. Makes a guy wonder what shape the gears are whenever the lever has needed a weld repair..

Closer inspection of the broken end of the upper half of the shift lever looks like it was spot welded to the lower half that remains in the tranny. Maybe the lower piece was a machined piece, then top half was formed, and then the two were spot welded together. Oh well, now to get it welded back together. Thanks to all!
