gas mileage

My 7045 would really suck the fuel running down the road, but it would also run about 26 mph too.

Depends on the tractor and speed. A wd45 won't burn a gallon an hour going down the road but their not real fast. I'm not sure what my Moline U burns per hour light load but it has a 25 mph road gear so you cover a lot more ground.

Nebraska Tractor Test shows a WD 45 max belt hp at 43 horse burning 3.8 gallon per hour. Test E at 11 belt hp showed a fuel consumption of 1.75 gallon per hour. 2 gallon per hour is probably about right at road speed on varying terrain. 12 mph is top end on a WD45. That'd be around 6 mpg. Your machine and mileage may vary.
