WD 3 pt hitch

I have a WD with a custom 3 point hitch that I want to use for brush hogging. I need to limit the downward travel of the 3 pt arms so the brush hog does not ride on the ground. The hold position on my WD does not hold. Does anyone have pictures of how they did this?

Depending on how your center link if rigged up you can use stay chains form the center link hook up to the arms which will limit how far down the 3 point arms can go. They have been used on the old 9N and 2N fords for years since all those 2 model of tractor had was draft control

You can use the snap on collars for a hydraulic cylinders and put them on each cylinder. That way you can still raise the brush hog. Only draw-back is if you want to frequently change your cutting height. I use them and they work fairly well.

I could send detailed pictures of mine, but I will describe what I have done...

I bolted a 1" angle about 10" long..one on each side of the Platform, facing across-wise ( Toward the tires).

That Angle Iron has an adjustable Bolt that registers with the rear Lift Arms..

This makes a very good adjustable "Stop".

Easy to make and works every time..

For "Sway" control, I removed the "Cross-Bar" from the 3 pt hitch frame, eliminated the "Sway Chains"... they don't work all that well..

I had a nice piece of 1" thick Bar-stock with a 3/4" to 1" hole in each one..

I cut it in two, Welded a grade 9 Bolt in the hole and Bolted that to each side of the Tractor's "Bail".. this acts as an "Elephant Ear" on each side and does a Great job of limiting Sway..

I did add a smaller angle at the top of the vertical Bars, forward to the Bracket with the holes for setting the Drawbar height, to be Sure they didn't move..

Sure is nice to not have those chains...they seem to get caught once in a while when the 3-point is raised and don't limit "Sway" well enough for hill-side work..

I could send pictures..I thought I had them on the PC but they seem to be absent now..

Google 'chain limiter kit', we use them quite a bit. They are NOT the same thing as the sway chains.

That is what I used on my D14 when I used my 3 pt hitch cutter,
Chain limiting kit, worked fine

You could set the cutting height of the cutter and it when down to that point each time
