Wd 45 hydraulics

I have a 1953 wd45, 3 pt adapter on bell connect, I'm trying to use a blade and get it to hold position wherever I set the quadrant lever, it seem very unresponsive at times, not holding, wanting to creep up or down, have set as manual instructs, the second picture, lol, but still no luck, where do I put set screw "c" in this position it doesn't specify, should he be in or out or does it matter? Please let me know thanks for your help

The 3 point on the WD45 I have has the same problem. I do not think it has position control just a draft so hard to make it stay where you want with out stay chains

Indeed the hydraulic pump can be adjusted to actually "hold" a load and not creep up or down. Screw "B" absolutely has to lock the plates together, as that is the detent mechanism. Screw "C" makes no difference, but I leave it out. Screw "A" must be screwed into the little divot on the side of the hyd pump body, which might require rotating the lever a little counterclockwise to align the divot with the setscrews tip. This screw "A" setting is very important. Screw "D" should be all the way out. At about the half-way position on the quadrant, the hold valve plates will detent or click into the hold position. If the hold valve is in good working order, nothing will settle down while in detent. If the system continues to lift or creep upward while in detent/hold position, loosen the setscrew on the short pump control rod and slide the setscrew/collar up on the rod 1/4" at a time until the pump quits pumping. Problem solved.

you may have showed me my problem, as I was confused on what screw a did, it is threaded against the "case" but seems to turn with the assembly in an arc, nicely left in the greasey film down there, so it should stay put in a recess is what your saying, there is a fixed position screw a rides in,,

It doesn't have a position control like a Ford, but does have a hold position that, if working and adjusted properly can hold it at any position. The problem may be getting it to that same position all the time.

thanks for the help and responses everyone, went and set as Dr. allis advised, works great, thanks again
