WD Zenith Carb Missing Venturi

I acquired a '49 WD last week. I've got the manuals, been researching articles here.

Previous owner, was trying to get it running, so a lot of things were already done.

The zenith carb was untouched(213348-3). I removed it, soaked in naptha overnight, and couldn't do much more than split it into two. Full of rust and whatnot. It spent an afternoon in the charcoal grill, and I was able to get all the jets and fittings out. Currently have it soaking in molasses and water to remove rust.

This is my first carb rebuild so I'm looking at online diagrams and find I am missing some parts. They all seem to be in a rebuild kit except the venturi. Don't see any venturis online.

Any suggestions?

You can most likely get one from Sandy Lake Implement. Ask for Brenda when you call if she happens not to answer. She knows these older parts inside and out.

Also try to find an older carb (do you know if you have the right one?) because all the new venturis you get now will be plastic try to find an old brass one.

Thanks, was already looking to place an order with them. Didn't know the cup/bracket was broken on sediment bowl, so now the sediment bowl is broken as well. I'll give a call.

Thanks, the grill and molasses I had on hand. Don't have anything around here that uses brake fluid. But will keep it in mind, especially if I need faster results.

I don't know if the carb is the original, but it is the correct model number for the WD. Don't know of any Allis around here that are sitting, but I know of a couple of Farmalls that won't be needing their carbs. If they have a zenith, it might work.

I may have that part laying around since I have a number of carbs off of the A/C tractors. Not likely that venturi form an Farmall will fit. Me I would never use brake fluid or molasses or water on a carb. Turpentine or ATF or carb cleaner yes and I have rebuild some real bad looking carbs over the years

It would be great if you did. Let me know what you would need from me to make it happen.

My first carb rebuild, so definitely like all the input. The molasses and water may very well be a mistake. I've had luck using it on other things. It turns the rust black and it washes right off to shiny metal. Problem is it flash rusts as it dries. So I need to treat it with a rust product as soon as it is done soaking.

Thanks,

Great advice, thanks,

Brenda didn't have any on hand, but is looking. I need a Zenith 18, she had the other sizes.

Next time I talk to her, I'll ask what the 18 refers to.
