Allis chalmers 185

I have a Allis chalmers 185 with a problem with the steering wheel I can only turn steering wheel only 4 inches in either dircction but the wheels will turn all the way in either direction. The steering acts like it hit a solid spot it won't go all the way around. The lift arms work good. Any help or questions please ask. Scott

Then can I assume the steering wheel still acts locked up when the engine is not running? Sounds like failure in the steering motor (rotary valve) there below your dash.

The steering pump was the problem thanks Mr bancroft. The old pump that was bad is it rebuildable with a kit? Thanks Scott
