Think we re-installed clutch plate backwards

When installed our replacement engine WD-45 I didn't see how my dad took the clutch off and I assumed he put it back on the same way he pulled it off. after not having a good clutch after engine replacement I looked into the inspection cover. It seems to me the clutch plate has one side that is flat in the center splines and one side has a boss where the splines are. It appears he installed it with the flat side of the plate toward the tranny and the boss side toward the Engine. Unless this clutch disc is flat on both sides? If the disk is in backwards would this act like the clutch wont release?
Thanks

BTDT way back when I was a teenager and learned no to ever do that again. Back wards makes a clutch not release and also can destroy the disk on some applications

I remember on the old Chevy trucks release bearing had to match with clutch and plate, 2 different styles. I found that out the hard way.
