RECENTLY PURCHASED 1949 "G". STEERING WHEEL IS WEATHERED BUT OTHERWISE GOOD. WHEN YOU TOUCH IT THE BLACK COMES OFF ON HANDS. IF YOU DON"T USE GLOVES HANDS ARE COMPLETELY BLACK. ANYWAY TO RESEAL THE PLASTIC OR JUST PURCHASE A NEW ONE. THANKS.

Yep, mine does the same thing.

THANKS FOR THE REPLY. GOOD TO KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. WANT TO TELL YOU ALSO YOU HAVE A NICE "G". IS IT ALSO A 1949? LOTS OF LUCK WITH IT.

1950 model, formerly owned by Clemson Univ on their test plots. Options include extended air intake stack, creeper gear, & nose weight. Has hydraulics, don't remember if that was standard or optional.

Did you buy that from Ed that was a weeds specialist from Clemson. We had 2 at Clemson.
I used both of them some and spent quite a bit of time working on them.
I can tell you some history on that tractor if it is one of them.

Looking thru books/notes: tractor came from Arrington Equip, Greenwood
Have some notes from W.H. Rhodes, CU Sand Hill Exp Station
Appears there was a complete rebuild in 6-11-99, name of Eddie Phesson

Got this from my uncle, he passed away 2 yrs ago @ 96. Regret I didn't learn more history from him on this, he knew every detail on all his tractors.

Thanks, Sam
