I have a 1949 wd and today while going up a grade the clutch began slipping. Is there an adjustment to take care of this? Thanks in advance.

I'd have to double check my book, but I think there should be 1/4" between the clutch finger and the throwout bearing. Assuming it's the foot clutch and not the hand clutch that is slipping.

Simple answer is maybe. If the clutch releases pretty fast when you push the pedal down you may need to adjust the pedal linkage. But it could also be a clutch that has seen a better day and it could need to be replaced.

Which clutch is slipping? If it is the engine clutch, unless you have no free play at the pedal, it is probably worn out. If it is the hand/transmission clutch, well there are shims to adjust it under the cover under the battery. If the lever has a little snap and you have to pull on it to engage it it is OK. You should not have to pull real hard, I don't know maybe 25 pounds pull to engage it and it should snap out of engagement when you push the lever to disengage it. If the pto and hydraulics still work when the clutch slips and the tractor is stopped the problem is the hand clutch. If everything stops when it is slipping it is the engine clutch. The PTO and hydraulic pump are powered before the hand clutch and after the engine clutch. Look at the tractor and where things are and this will make sense.

I have a 1948 WD ALLIS. And I started to and everything ran fine then I stepped on clutch put it in 1st then it didn't go. No grinding or anything. I tried all gears even reverse and it just won't go anywhere?

If it needs a new Foot Clutch Disc, replace the pressure-Plate with the 9 Spring unit for a WD-45 and you will not need another one..!

Is the hand clutch hooked up? I had one of the pins fall out of the linkage on mine once. Try using the PTO. If it spins, then the problem is in the hand clutch.
