D15 engine noise

have gas d15 has top end knocking goes away if you pull plug wire on cylinder. Noise is persistent until that point. No smoke no other power issues. Wondering what I might be getting in to for repair.

I'd take the plug out and crank it over a few times you might get lucky and blows out a piece of carbon or something else.Also if you have one of those scopes to look into the cylinder
you might see the problem.Could be a wrist pin knock.

Firing order is 1-2-4-3....be sure that is correct. If this is a Series 2 tractor with the dry-type air cleaner, the connecting rods do have a bronze bushing for the piston pin to float in. Older tractors with the oil bath air cleaner do not have a pin bushing.
