serial number

May depend on which tractor you have. But in the years I have been here I have found there correct but some people can not do simple math any more since what they have are the first one out for that year so you have to figure out where your number fits in the list

By chance do you have a model WC? If it is a wartime WC, the first digit is an "S", not a 5.....so it would not match WC listings.

no wc .220. 220 1747D I must not be able to do simple math. the serial is behind the starter on bell housing?

What number are you using? Serial numbers are stamped, not cast. What model tractor? B, C, CA sn are by the gear shift lever. WC, WF are on the center of the differential, WD, WD45 are on the left side of the diff, left rear vertical face. Engine numbers are not sn.

220 is on the left side of the bell housing same as the D17. The number is right for the machine, but the D at the end is confusing.

Diesel, not that there ever was a gas model! Probably force of habit for whoever was stamping it. 170,180,190,etc, were available either way, so the diesels had a D after the serial number.

They made some D-21's in 1969 and mid-year in 69 the 220 replaced the D-21 and the starting s/n was 1001. You have a first year production 220 made in the last half of 1969. A-C did that a dozen or more times over the years not providing s/n's of a partial first years production. The mighty 220 was Nebraska tested on June 17th, 1969.

dr allis I understand the half year thing. but the serial number on this sight starts 1938 not 1001 .not complaining just trying to figure out

Well can you at least tell us what model it is??? So far from all I have read you have not told us what model it is so hard for us to help you help your self.

4th post in the thread he says it's a 220. Production of the 220 began in March of 69. Norm Swinfords Bible of Allis lists the start serial number as 1004 in 69. Just like the good Dr said.

The 220 was a replacement for the D21, the 210 was made to fill the hp gap between the 190XT and the 220. It came out in 1970.

If your serial number is lower than 1938, it obviously can't be a 1970 model....it's a 1969 model. Nothing mysterious about the s/n at all.

dr allis prob not a mystery but my original question was on serial numbers on this sight they don't list a 1969 year for a 220 .

And they also don't list a 1957 model D-17 either, even tho there were 4300 of them built in 1957. They don't list any 1967 One-Seventy or One-Eighty tractors, when they made them for six months in 1967. There are a dozen or more A-C tractor models that this first partial year production s/n affects.

Just for grins and giggles, I checked out the official Nebraska Test information website. The A-C 220 tractor was tested on June 17 thru 24, 1969. The official test number was #1017. The chassis s/n was 1138, making it the 137th tractor built because they started at chassis s/n 1001.
