D10 with governor problem

I have a D10 series III that the governor is not responsive when it gets in a pull and it wants to race to high when throttle is opened all the way up, I've tried to adjust this but didn't help, is this weight problem on the governor itself or what? Thanks for any help

Exactly what did you adjust or change?? The problem sounds like the governor synchronization is off, and that means removing the link rod from the carb to the governor arm and straightening some of the bends in it to make it longer. All linkage must be free and not sticking or binding. Did you have the carb removed and apart?? The throttle shaft cannot be stiff or binding either.

I did try to adj but if you don't mind go over the
procedure again Dr Allis, thanks again

It helps to understand the governor action. The little spring you see at the right front of the engine is the governor spring. As you move the throttle lever, you put more tension on that spring. That opens the throttle plate in the carb. The engine speeds up. The internal governor weights react to the increased speed and push back against the spring. That way you can maintain different "governed" speeds. The "throttle" lever is really a governor control.

As stated, all linkage needs to be free from binding. The governor and the throttle shaft/plate in the carb. need to be wide open, or nearly so, at the same time. With the link unhooked, the throttle control should move the gov. linkage wide open. Then you can move the carb. throttle shaft/plate wide open by hand, against the stop(opposite way from the idle speed screw) The link should go in. Instructions vary a little bit here, as to being half a hole off, etc. I just say you don't want the link adjusted so that the gov. is slamming the throttle shaft against hard the stop when it goes wide open. "Adjustment" in this case is bending linkage as necessary.

Thank you so much I'll check this out as I'm working on some of my tractors today, I have 2 other D10's so koi look at them also, have a Happy Memorial Day!
