Broke the bar where the 3 pt hitch hooks to plow. Had it welded at a fabrication shop and it lasted about 50 feet. Material looks almost like cast iron.

Do I get a piece of 1.5" round bar stock and fabricate one, try another welder or junk the plow?

making one from a solid bar is one option.. I bought the threaded ends ( about 6 inches long) at the farm store and bolted them to a 3/4 inch thick plate on each side of the plow. ....... those are more for mowers / blades/ ect .......fabricated bar across from side to side is probably stronger. ....... maybe take two bars a foot long and turn the ends to size.. then lay side by side and weld them together ( offset) with a 3/8 plate on each side of the bars to form the offset.

Had a real welder look at it. The way it is broken there is no way to weld and not have it continue to break. It appeared to him that it had been cracked for quite a while So I am getting an 1.5 hot roll rod cut to length and he is going to weld a 1/2 in plate for the offset and we will use Cat 2 pins from TSC. Wonder what will break after I get this fixed??????
