B Starter rod spring?

Does anyone know if there is a source for the return spring on the starter rod of a B? Ordered a bunch of parts last night from Steiner's, but could not find that. Should I just take the old one to a hardware store and try to match it in size and cut off the hooks?

Thanks,
Tim

go to nnalert.com, will roll to https://www.link_disallowed.com/default.aspx and buy a starter gear and spring kit for about $45. Says Alamo on the box, pt# A565564B. I have the Ford or Autolite style.
Determine which starter you have. No spring in a hardware store will fit. This is a unique thing. See picture of gear-bushing and spring.Just an fyi, I didnt use the new spring. It wasnt shaped right. I wouldve had to heat it with a propane torch and bend it longer.I replaced mine due to worn teeth. good luck. GW

He is talking about the starter rod return spring. The starter rod spring is not critical, go to your local hardware store and get one and cut to desired length.
