Front main bearing WC WD45

Got a WD45 crank that I had ground a number of years ago and got bearings for it at the same time. Going to put it in a WC block and I noticed the oil hole in the block is towards the front while the oil hole in the bearing is in the center. Is there a difference in the front bearing from a WC to a WD45? Also middle and rear bearing have room for .011 shims while front has room for .017 shims which seems like a lot. Thanks.

You might have to take a small die grinder or Dremel to the block and chamfer the blocks oil hole a bit to get the oil hole in the bearing shell to line up better. As for the main cap shims.....they are to be .010" thick.....nothing more. A standard A-C shim is actually four thin pieces laminated together, each of them being .0025" thick for a total of .010". If your crankshaft was reground correctly, and the block main cap bores are good, you should use new .010" shims at each location and everything should be just fine. These shims have been misunderstood and assembled incorrectly for years, but the correct shim thickness is .010".
