I want to get new back tires for my 1938 wc unstyled with round spoke rear wheels. the rims are 8 inches wide and 24 inches in diameter. what is the correct original size for the tires? I am thinking that 12.4x24 may be correct. I would hate to go any smaller because I think it might look funny. any suggestions? thanks

12.4 looks clear wrong. 13.6 would be about right but they are hard to find. Most guys roll 14.9 onz but they get a little "donut" looking.

ok. My dad put a pair of used 16.9's on it about 36 years ago cause they were available and
cheap, and they are very balloon looking. now the rims are rusted out from calcium, and
when I fix the rims I wanna put the right tires back on it. I agree that 12.4s may look too
small. thanks for your input

If you are going to have the rims fixed, you could also have them widened. Then a 14.9 would look real good. I found a set of round spokes that look 100% original, but are a couple inches wider than the should be. A 14.9 looks perfect on them.

very good suggestion, thanks. by the way, I am in york county, pennsylvania. my son is
looking for a snap coupler disc to pull behind his WD. if anybody knows of any for sale in
my area, I'd appreciate the tip. I already checked craigslist a couple of days ago.

Here's a couple of pictures of mine with 14.9 on it so your know what it would look like.

The old 11*24 is a lot different than the 11.2*24. I have a C with 11.2 on it and a WC with 14.9 on it. I'll get them side by side tonight and snap a picture.

I wanted to get them closer, but I couldn't. WC has 14.9x24 on it and the C has 11.25x24 on it.

i appreciate all the responses. the photos were very helpful.I'm gonna pick up a new pair
of 13.6's in a couple days. They're 8 ply, so i hope that mounting them myself doesn't
turn out to be a WWF wrestling match.
