The original subject was "1959 D14 project".

I bolted a new stainless battery tray on today. She started up today, thanks to a new batter, yet, ran a bit rough. I removed the oil bath air cleaner and soaked in a five gallon bucket full of gasoline after cleaning out two inches of mud in the oil cup. The sediment bowl was removed & cleaned. The gasket leaks. A new gasket and filter is on the way. I discovered the alternator bracket was broken and the fan belt is worn. Both replacement parts ordered via Yesterdays Tractors. Thanks to a tip from the forum, I sprayed the rusted bolts & nuts for the muffler, put a 9/16 socket & breaker bar held down with binder twine on a cement block. Hopefully, the nuts will break loose soon. Otherwise, I'll try using some heat from a butane torch to break them free.
Springtime in the Northern woods, when young men's hearts turn to love and old men like me return to tinkering on our old tractors.

With that breaker bar under tension tap on the socket with a moderate size hammer and maybe they'll come loose. Sounds like your fun has started now that spring is in full swing :)

Unfortunately, I broke both rusted bolts off. The good news is the new muffler fit perfect!
