Are There Any Good Ignition Part Makers Around Anymore?

The "no name white box" points/condenser sets sold through eBay and online tractor supply stores seem to be junk; especially the condenser. Are there any "name brand" ignition parts makers still around? I never had any problems with sudden, premature failure of parts made by Niehoff but I think that they are out of business. Anybody have any recommendations for a RELIABLE set of points/condenser for a '51 WD?

Well #1 leave the old condenser in it is likely to be good and out last any thing new. I have not changed a condenser in any thing in 20 plus years now.
As for points what I get at O'Reilly's seem to do just fine and most have not been replaced in a long time but what has been is still the same B/W brand. If you do not have an O'Reilly's close by NAPA will also have good ones. Buying on line gets you on line who knows stuff buy local you know what your getting and can look at it before you pay for it

I get Blue Streak points from an independent parts store. They used to be USA made. Now Mexico, I think, but still good. Put a set in and forget it for ten years. Very well made and copper plated.

I use Calco brand sold at Orchealns (spelling??) farm and home store. I have not had any problems. They have good carb kits too.
Only problem is my store put a lot of the tractor parts on the clearance table.

Mike, Blue Streak has been around a long time! I used buy their tune up parts in my hot rodding days which ended in the late 70's. I haven't heard that brand name mentioned in almost 40 years.

I have had good results with Echlin, Niehoff, Blue Streak, Standard Ignition, and Entermotor (cap & rotor with brass pick ups). I stay away from Wells products I don't think their products hold up good..

Old is right!! Go with NAPA(Echlin) or Blue Streak. These are the ones I use. At his suggestion I put NGKs in my 8N ford and it made a difference over the Autolite 437s.

I dont like any of the current production points. Lucky for us we have Ebay and always quite a few sets of new old stock Delco points on there for sale. Its the same point used in many other applications. Punch in in the search box "Delco Remy D-100H" and buy a few sets, thats what I do. Thats the H-D set part number. The condenser part number escapes me but I cang et it if you want it.

DG just reminded me that I use NGK3112 plugs in my Fords and my WD45 which will be the same for a WD

Why not just put in a modern electronic kit like Pertronix? I have over 10 installed tractors all start great and never any problems.
